What does ‘Fauna Speak’ mean?

The term ‘fauna’ is synonymous with animals and animal life; it can often be found in conjunction with flora, describing the plant life of a particular area. I chose the name ‘Fauna Speak’ because it is my greatest joy in this life to connect with animal beings, both domestic and wild, as we remember our collective language. To communicate on their behalf, strengthen interspecies bonds and restore a greater sense of kinship and collaboration.

What does your logo represent?

My logo was created by my dear friend, Rachel Hamann of Dot and Cross Studio. She lovingly brought my vision into form featuring the medicine wheel in its traditional colors; for me a deeply resonant interspecies lens steeped in story, connection and place. At the top is a Pelican in flight, and the bottom a Grey Whale migrating. These two have been powerful guides and guardians along my journey along with the Yak in the center of the wheel. I lived alongside Tibetan Yaks while beginning my journey of animal communication and, as ancestors to the buffalo, seemed the perfect focal point with its pronounced eye of intuition. Kentucky Goldenrod to the East and California Poppy to the West are emblematic of my homes and personal migration. The spiral sun and crescent moon communicate both earthen and celestial cycles. The medicine wheel itself has a snake-like presence, alluding to the Tibetan symbol of rebirth.

About Animal Communication

What are the applications of Animal Communication?

There are endless applications for Animal Communication. Common applications for companion animals include behavior, health, deepening connections, preparing for a health procedure, travel, diet, introduction of a new family member (human and animal alike), family dynamics, end of life, loss of a family member, moving, transition of any kind, communicating with animals in spirit, honoring their preferences in relationship to veterinary care and the list goes on.

Animal Communication at large can be invaluable to conservation, land stewardship, inclement weather, development projects, habitat restoration, sustainable resourcing, species protection and scientific research while strengthening the bonds and communication with our wild brothers and sisters.

How does my session with you compliment my work with my veterinarian?

I have a great respect for the veterinary profession as a whole and all the incredible and innovative work they do for animals and their human families.

My role as an Animal Communicator is to be a representative voice for your animal companion. I am here to objectively convey their preferences, desires, and physical or emotional discomfort (if they choose to present it). I do not make a diagnosis, but am regularly able to sense areas of sensitivity or concern and how your animal wants to relate to them.

Animals often communicate to me if they want to go to the vet or what type of relationship they want to have to more formal care. In my conversations with animals, I see the spectrum: some request holistic remedies while others desire more explicit pain management, some don’t even want to think about it at all. It all depends on your companion’s needs and preferences. Some feel safer at the animal hospital while others prefer to be at home in your care.

No one animal professional has all the answers all the time, but working together as a team can help ensure the most comprehensive support for your companion animal.

How do our human experiences overlap with our companion animals?

Human and animal journeys are so thoughtfully braided together. As we continue to uncover what affects our animal companions, it is helpful to see how those realizations correlate to our own experiences and what we have chosen to learn alongside such compassionate reflections as our animals.

I consider our animal companions (both in form and spirit) to be not only family, but guides, confidants, mirrors and teachers. It is truly a bond that surpasses what can be physically witnessed. Our animals’ behaviors, personality, preferences and sensitivities are all something for us to learn from. Who they are, when they come into our life and how they choose to leave is brimming with significance. There is a peaceful understanding that accompanies viewing our journeys together from a higher vantage.

How do I communicate with animals?

I communicate with animals telempathically, meaning I can feel what they feel. I may also receive messages, images and thought-forms, all the while connecting with them on a soul level. I translate these communications for the human and the conversation can continue as a two-way dialogue. I work with the details of an animal’s experience to paint a more expansive picture, illuminating new solutions and facilitating deeper bonds. I do not need to be physically present with an animal to communicate with them as I am experiencing their energy and communicating telepathically.

How does an animal communicate differently after they have crossed over and are in spirit?

Animals in spirit do not have the filter of experience that is living in a physical body. Although they still hold the memories and connections of being alive with us, they are no longer operating within the same physical perimeters; this allows them to express in a more expansive way. I often say animals sound like sages after they have crossed over because they are free from any physical pain and see their circumstances differently; as loving as they are on this plane, they are able to open up to an even greater sense of love and service that can be more challenging to communicate or realize here on earth. They see a wider perspective and continue to send us love and be of assistance while in spirit. Most animals I speak with are excited and adamant about maintaining a line of communication, or at the very least a sense of connection and/or mutual support, despite physical distance from their human family.

Sessions

How much time do you recommend I book for an Animal Communication session?

For an Animal Communication session, the amount of animals you would like to speak with can be a determining factor in selecting a session length. The base time is 40-minutes to communicate with one animal. I recommend 40-75 minutes for one animal, 75-minutes for one to three, and 120 minutes for larger families of three to five. Some animals talk more than others or have more pressing matters; additionally I am aware of the time distribution to ensure everyone gets their time.

Other factors to consider in selecting a session length:

  • The amount of questions you have

  • Your personal curiosity regarding your relationship with your animal(s)

  • Your interest in Animal Communication in general

  • If your situation is particularly challenging, you might want to factor in time to discuss some emotional support for yourself as well

There is a unique session length for new clients so I can get acquainted with each conversation participant. With each subsequent session, I only get to know your animal more and there is likely less time needed for introductions.

A follow-up session is for returning clients only who would like to continue the conversation regarding an ongoing situation I am already aware of. It is too brief a time for anything other than check-ins and clarifications. I also offer packages that include discounts.

Do you work with missing animals?

Although I have such a huge heart for missing animals, I have chosen not to offer missing animal sessions at this time.

I am currently creating additional support for humans and animals who may find themselves in this incredibly difficult situation. You are still welcome to email me about your situation and I can try to connect you with folks who do offer these services.

How soon is too soon to book an ‘Animals in Spirit’ session?

It is truly up to your personal timing, everyone’s needs and situations are unique. But I do suggest allowing space to reflect and grieve before booking a session. It may be helpful to gift yourself time to feel and adjust to their physical absence so we may more fully open up to their messages, guidance and presence within our time together. You might even enjoy connecting in with them organically and in your own way before our more formal communication.

What is your ‘Whale + Dolphin’ Session?

The ‘Whale + Dolphin' Session is one of my favorite offerings. We connect with the energy of the Whales and Dolphins (Cetaceans) to explore any intention you set forth. They offer tangible advice as well as comforting connection. It’s oceanic, watery and supportive just like their world. They may choose to answer anything directly, but also work effectively in the realm of frequency. This is certainly one session best experienced!

Animal Connection

What is the Whale + Dolphin Circle?

The Whale + Dolphin Circle began in December 2018 and has continued every month since. It is my monthly offering of gratitude to both the Fauna Speak community and my lifelong guides, the Cetaceans (the order of Whales, Dolphins and Porpoises). It now alternates between Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons to accommodate a variety of time zones. Folks join the Zoom Video meeting from all over the world!

The Whale + Dolphin Circle is a connective space for the Whales and Dolphins to bring forth their messages to humanity, offer encouragement and provide tangible ways of navigating life. Their offering is always current and enriching. The messages are typically punctuated by or folded into a visualized meditation from the Cetaceans and we begin with introductions from members of the circle. This circle is a buoyant and supportive space to glean inspiration from the Cetacean's messages and each other in symbiotic appreciation.

There is no charge for the Zoom Meeting or to participate, but you are welcome to include a donation - our current recipient is The Whale Museum.

Email me at faunaspeak@gmail.com to be placed on the email list to receive the meeting details on the day of or day before the Whale + Dolphin Circle. See my EVENTS page for the dates of upcoming Circles.

What has been your most interesting animal encounter?

It is difficult to name just one. My experiences with the animals formed my understanding of the world and the connectedness of all beings. I was blessed to kiss a baby gray whale while she made rainbows with the mist of her out-breath in Baja. Dolphins taught me how to just be in the ocean without fear while swimming with them in the Atlantic; more rainbows there too. I helped a turtle cross a country road in the foothills and he let me me pet his head. The experience was so profound, so quiet that my vision went blurry. I lived alongside yaks on my farm in Eastern Kentucky. They taught me about birth, rebirth, ancient wisdom and death. I saw them through illness and snow, in hot heat and ritual celebration. Their grunts are still with me. One special baby slept with me in the cabin. Her name was Butterfly and she lived 3 short weeks on earth, yet forever in my soul. She was so small she could lick the morning dew off the chard in the garden. She enjoyed resting beneath their shade, too.

Studying Animal Communication

Am I ready for Animal Communication Mentorship?

A heartfelt desire to connect with and learn from the animals is all you need to begin your journey of remembering the language of the animals and refining your telepathic abilities. There are no prerequisites as all 1:1 sessions are curated to meet your unique needs based on your life experiences.

Animals are all about energy. They read it, send it and use it as a tool with endless applications. You have been sending and receiving messages with the animals your whole life, whether you were conscious of it or not. Together we will become more aware of what that receptivity feels like and gain confidence.

Should I do a workshop or mentorship?

The Introduction to Animal Communication Workshops (4-part) are a great entry point to the realm of animal communication, while getting to learn alongside others and ask questions. The benefit of mentorship is that it is one on one. The sessions are specific to your needs and curated based on where you are on your journey. If we haven’t worked together before, please book a 30-minute consultation so we can get to know each other and I can become acquainted with your intentions and goals. I typically recommend two weeks between mentorship sessions and you can schedule as many as you like (based on your needs and budget). There are discounts for booking in advance but you are welcome to book one at a time.

Getting In Touch with Your Own Abilities

What is your advice as I begin to try and communicate with the animals myself?

To move within an energy of trust and unconditional love. Connect in with the loving nature of the animals and work on opening your heart to create a clear connection. If you would like to talk to a specific animal, you can imagine a sphere of golden light around the both of you. Trust the information that comes through for you while acknowledging what filters and blocks you may have. Feel and take note of how the messages move through you.

The animals present all information with an inclusive love, but it often takes time to realize that love comes with no conditions. It is free from guilt, shame and fear.

Am I too late in life to realize my innate abilities of animal communication?

There is no such thing as behind. You are perfectly situated on your journey to deepen your connection to the animals. You have been given all the right experiences, promptings and abilities; it is just a matter of putting the puzzle pieces together!

Why do I keep running into roadblocks with my Animal Communication abilities?

Remembering your ability to communicate with the animals is a journey of discovery and learning through experience. It is important to note that everything brought into our awareness is informing. Whether we find a wall or an open door, information is encoded there. Looming walls were some of my post potent teachers along the way.

Continue to go outside and be amongst wildness where telepathy is the predominant language. Step outside of your thinking mind and simply feel. You are less decoding a language you wish to learn and more connecting into the energy of all.

What is ‘Animal Medicine?’

Animal Medicine is the energy of a particular animal or an entire species. From that energy we can draw inspiration, direction, connection and insight. Just like plants have medicinal properties that nourish and heal, the animal kingdom offers that to us on an energetic level. We can draw from the wisdom and way of being of an animal’s medicine to inform our own journey of coming into balance and wholeness.

Animal Medicine can appear to us in the form of a wild animal encounter or even a scene from a movie, signaling it is time to connect with the medicine of that animal. Or we simply sense when we need the medicine of a particular animal to help us remedy or navigate.

Animal medicine reminds us of our power, in particular our power to balance our thoughts and physical bodies. For example, Wolf teaches of leadership and loyalty, while Snail teaches us of pace and detail. Koala embodies compassion and the art of receiving, while Jaguar helps us navigate the shadowy parts of the life journey.

Everything on earth has a medicine to offer, including you!

Read more in-detail descriptions of animal medicines from my ever-growing collection.

What do you mean ‘higher self’ vs ‘physical self?’

The ‘higher self’ refers to someone at their soul level. The higher self exists in knowingness and trust, containing blueprints, soul missions and soul contracts. The higher self communicates in messages, but can make use of any of the senses to impart wisdom. The physical self chooses how closely they want to listen and align with their higher self. The physical self is the one in human or animal form operating from a limited understanding as they engage in lessons of growth and enjoyment of this planet.

What does synchronicity mean to you?

To describe synchronicity in words, I would say it is our frequent reminder of the creative potential always available to us. Synchronicity is like little tears in the fabric of reality that reveal the surreal to be more tangible than we had realized. Through those tears in the fabric, more magic and wisdom and ways of being are allowed to flow through as we begin to notice them more frequently, informally weaving this tapestry of synchronicities that inform us of a greater reality. Until one day, the potential and magic and connection of each moment is so obvious to us that our previous notions of reality have just fallen away with barely a notice.

Synchronicity can visit you in the form of a bird’s visit, eye contact with a wild animal, running into an old friend at the store you were just thinking about, a book falling open to a particular page or repeating things such as numbers, cars, dates, etc.
