About the monthly Whale + Dolphin Circle

The Whale + Dolphin Circle began in December 2018 and has continued every month since. It is my monthly offering of gratitude to both the Fauna Speak community and our animal family, the Cetaceans (the order of Whales, Dolphins and Porpoises). It now alternates between Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons (Pacific Time) to accommodate a variety of time zones. Folks join the Zoom video meeting from all over the world! Some even staying up into the wee hours of the night to participate.

The Whale + Dolphin Circle is a connective cocoon for the Whales and Dolphins to bring forth their messages to humanity, offer encouragement and provide tangible ways of navigating life. All the while imbuing the many layers of ourselves with nourishing frequencies and sensations. Their timely messages are typically punctuated by or folded into a visualization journey guided by Cetaceans following heartfelt introductions from circle participants. This gathering is a buoyant and supportive space to glean inspiration from the Cetaceans and each other in symbiotic appreciation. 

There is no charge for the Zoom meeting or to participate, but you are welcome to include a donation - our current recipient is Dolphin Project.

  • We gather on the precipice of winter. Protecting dark, reflecting light; communing with all in our radius. Exalting what we are in wonder of and how that shapes and reveals our purest tone, breath, song, etc. Amongst the chorus of incubating dreams. 

    We are joined by Lana Smithner Greenleaf at the beginning; her timely, elemental connection of water, salt, tree, breath and flame of eight candles. Signifying the 85th consecutive gathering; the 8th year we embark upon in the pattern of infinity. Appreciating all who have ever gathered in this Circle, those present this Solstice, and the beautiful horizon ahead.

    Hi Everyone - 

    I feel poetically exuberant about Decembers - love how months take on meaning in one’s personal mythology the more of them you live. It’s a month of incalculable sensation. Like I’m riding a wave of vast experience and accomplishment every year. Even, if not especially, in the most life-altering of them. 

    In December of 2018, my Dad was preparing to leave the planet. I’d never expected to witness my own father so frail. It often felt dichotomous to sense my own life taking shape and his dematerializing. I still appreciate context on such an initiatory corridor; no other route at the time but to feel my way through. All the while experiencing a father’s devotion in different ways. Context and connection as he helps me write this, even. 

    I didn’t set out to share about my Dad. Maybe there is something about this season inherently paternal? The quieter provision and tenacity the cooler months require. Perhaps it’s high time I acknowledge my father and husband, who are such capable belayers to however high I’d like to climb the mountain. Supporting me to touch sky, burrow into earth or swim out as far as I can. I can’t help but think of equally capable Caribou as I share this sentiment (and their domestic equivalent: Reindeer). Of the entire Cervidae (Deer) family, Caribou is the only species where both male and female grow antlers. It reminds me of being an only child when my Dad might have wanted more, so he raised me like a son and his daughter. Oh how I cherish species variation, particularly a bonafide crown of bones!

    Which leads me back to the reason I was waxing poetic altogether about the season. How my father's journey spiraled amongst my own December beginnings back in 2018. This month marking the first ever Whale and Dolphin Circle: my most consistent, most cherished, community offering. A monthly, mutually-nourishing gift to both terrestrial and celestial kingdoms of Cetacean and our ever-growing human pod. This Sunday will be our 85th, consecutive gathering. All are welcome to extra-celebrate as we embark upon the 8th year; what infinity to uncover! And no better time to embrace Ocean than Solstice Sunday - I look forward to sea-ing you there. 

    I’m celebrating in a couple ways!

Celebrating 5 years of the Whale + Dolphin Circle with a gift of Frequensea

  • I was inspired to send a gift of frequensea to you this New Year. 

    The Whales have been particularly hugging and holding me close these past few months. My cold, winter swims braiding us together even more molecularly.

    And I have realized it has been 5 full years of the Whale + Dolphin Circle! 

    I wanted to celebrate and bathe in Cetacean connection with y'all to begin the year. Luxuriate in the spaciousness of ocean love and align us even further with the signatures of the sea. I dream of even more Whale collaboration this upcoming year. Imagining ample avenues to communicate their messages, healing energies and commune with water. 

    Partnering with FayePatrick Kennedy's incredible soundscapes is a great place to start. The Whales communicate so much in sound and frequency, subtle-but-big energies beyond our comprehension and vocabulary. The Dolphins in directive sonar and scientific accuracy. The Porpoises in quiet, embodied embrace. Thinking of the ones at the poles and equator as I weave these very words. From the largest to the smallest, we have a chorus of support all around us this fresh start of a year. May their song draw us in to more receiving and amplified connection.

  • A generous, golden bubble net to begin. A cast of heavenly light upon your faces. How very cold water can almost feel warm. 

    A message to your molecules of infinite life alive in the sea. We whisper to each of them individually tides of good news. Even the subtle, whimsical dreams of your heart are nearing or within grasp. Instruction to keep your ears close to the ocean this year, allow your eyes to move sea through you. Trust the churning of your own heart and enjoy the sensation; allow things to wash in and out with ease. Each time carrying from what is no longer needed and delivering the diamond of your desires in quiet moments. Be with what presents. Know that you are tuned in and attuned in special ways you will continue to remember as the year unfurls. It is no matter where your year begins, only that you try to describe where you are in the season and settle into the space speaking through you. 

    Enjoy swimming in our ancient wisdom. Wisdom not unique to us but of which we are a unique vessel; in addition to custodians and curators of current energies. Let the softness of our song relax and cradle you as gentle ocean waves fall like silk (the way water moves across our backs). We are islands of our own. You, too are an island of thoughtful creation. You, too are an instrument of many strings. Humans are not alone but a composite of infinite threads. We invite you to dance in our songs. Not just to our songs, but rather inspired and artful movement within the audible/frequency’d expression of our bodies’ caverns and fields.

    What a humbling joy it is to translate for the Whales, from the deep to the surface, tiny to vast. Thank you for journeying with us.

    This Healing Soundscape is a vocal sonic reflection of the healing frequencies impressed upon my heart while in reverent meditation, deep listening and sacred communion with the Cetacean during this new year’s liminal passing. 

    It is always a humbling experience to invite and be with another being(s) in this co-creative energetic space. Quieting my body and mind. Gently bridging my focus between my heart and throat centers. Finally, giving myself over in complete trust to the frequencies arriving and simultaneously digesting them in order to allow myself unencumbered vocalization.

    For you dear listener, there is no prescribed way to receive this Healing Soundscape. Listen how and where and when you feel most called to do so. Only you know when your heart is most receptive to receiving. 

    For those who desire to be more deeply welcomed into this sonic offering by the Cetacean, they invite you to create a meditative moment for yourself. 10min to be curious about the interconnectedness of your heart, body, mind and spirit. 10min to listen with your sensual body (both physical and energetic bodies) more than with your judging mind. 10min to welcome another being(s) into your grief, into your joy, into the very heart of your existence. They want you to feel supported in the ease of unconditional love that threads itself over and over again in every vibration, every silence, every breath captured, every vocalization. Enjoy!
